Today, there are cloud services on the Internet that allow users to store any information on their servers. They are very convenient for placing backups. Firstly, the archives on the remote server are independent of the state of your hard drive. And secondly, they are available from anywhere in the world. Therefore, today we will consider how to use the archiver and the "Task Scheduler" Windows to organize a backup to one of these services - Dropbox.
And first of all, we’ll talk about preparing a place to store archives. When you first visit the Dropbox website, the user is prompted to download and install a special utility. Refuse from this is not worth it, because it greatly facilitates the work with the service. The installation procedure itself is absolutely unremarkable. From the user, just click on the Install button. But after the process is completed, the utility offers to specify an account on Dropbox. Since we don’t have it yet, select I don’t have a Dropbox account.
On the next screen, enter your data.
Next, select a free account. At the same time, 2GB will be available on server disks.
And finally, at the last stage, select Typical, because we do not need special settings.
After the installation is complete, the Dropbox folder appears in the Windows user folder. For ease of access, a link to it is automatically placed in the Favorites section. When any information is placed in this folder, it is automatically uploaded to remote servers. Thus, all we need to do is set up a system for automatically creating and placing archives.
In general, we have already considered such a system. And therefore, just take the shortcut you created earlier and make some changes to its properties. First of all, change the copy location: fix G: backup to C: Users User Dropbox. Next, we need to set a password for the created archives. It is advisable to do this, since transferring data to the Internet is a potentially dangerous operation. To do this, add the following key to our line: -p ******* (you need to enter your password instead of asterisks). As a result, we should get this line of parameters: "a –p ****** –agYYYY-MMM-DD C: Users User backup @C: list.txt".
Everything else can not be touched. The "Action Planner" will, with the specified frequency, run the shortcut we created. The archiver in the background will create archives and place them in the Dropbox folder. Well, Dropbox will automatically upload them to remote servers.

Step 1 - creating the application
We go to the App Console page, click the "Create app" button, select the "Dropbox API app" type, select the "Files and datastores" item, since we are going to work with the files, and in the next paragraph answer "Yes - My app only needs access to files it creates ”, this means that your application will be limited only by its separate subfolder in the App folder, it will not have access to other files. We come up with a name for our application and click "Create app".
You will see a whole page of settings for the created application, but there is no need to configure anything extra. But do not close it yet.
Step 2 - Download and Install the SDK
To write applications that will work with files in your Dropbox, you need to go to the Core API section. There we can download the SDK we need, read the documentation and go through training tours.
Since I believe that Python is the best scripting language for me, I downloaded the SDK for myself and installed it. Installation is very simple, everything is limited to downloading, unzipping the SDK itself and installing it using the commands "python setup.py install", or "pip install dropbox".
